Lil Book Story

Hi! I'm Sarah, the creator of Lil Book, and I am a mom to a curious little boy. As I was looking for safe and engaging books to nurture his interest, I realised that it was challenging to find a non-toxic soft baby book with real-life images. So I took matters into my own hands and thus Lil Book was born!

OEKO-TEX® certified materials and ink, safe crafting process

I have done extensive research and testing on every element that went into creating Lil Book, a safe soft baby book. Whether it was the components of the book itself or the components of the crafting process, each component had to be non-toxic and safe. To do this, each part of the book is certified OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100 and the ink is accredited with ECO PASSPORT by the OEKO-TEX® Association, meaning all components have been rigorously tested against a list of up to 350 toxic chemicals, and ensuring the product is safe to human health. The Oeko-Tex® Association is the best known in the world and guarantees the absence of health risks thanks to its most reliable product safety certifications. As a parent, it gave me peace of mind knowing that my angel could nibble his Lil Book without swallowing harmful products.

Handcrafted with love

In terms of quality, I wanted a fabric book that would be soft and fluffy to touch, little, light and easy for Baba to handle. I handmade countless prototypes to create the perfect simple Lil Book for our beloved babies. Each book that I bring to life gets a meticulous and thorough attention to details. The cut of the fabric requires precision - and God knows this fabric is so smooth that it likes to wiggle away! - the printing has to be flawless, and each stitch requires a rigorous eye and hand.

Real-life images, wonder and learning

I also wanted real-life images to help our little ones expand their world, as I believe that the first information they see should mean something, educate them and also spark wonder - reality can be magical! And to do this, I handpicked and optimised photos that had to be iconic and easy to understand. The reward is so worth it: Wonder, discovery, learning, fun times, “aha!” moments, the joy of identifying images from Lil Book in real life, describing animals and mimicking their sounds, encouraging language… So many ways to interact with our babies and to foster their independent growth through play! These experiences resonate deeply with me, as I've cherished each moment with my son, revelling in these precious times together through Lil Book.

This is why I put this much care and love in all my Lil Books that I handcraft myself. Our babies truly deserve these tiny treasures.
